The most important lessons from Bill Gates for people from every field

Is there anything you can’t learn from the man who right now is leaving no stone unturned while doing philanthropy and was the world’s richest man for the most part of the last two and a half decades, the first youngest billionaire, the founder of the world’s biggest and most successful tech-company, Microsoft-Bill Gates. Here are the top few lessons that everyone out in the real world must know and try to implement:

Just Start

Have you figured out what interests you? Do you know the career that you want to pursue? Then don’t wait. Just dive right into whatever is it that is your passion and you’ll figure out a way to stay on top of things. It will allow yourself to mold your life accordingly, meet with like-minded people sooner than you think and help you get on your way to success before there’s any sign of competition.

Bill Gates who himself was just 13 years of age when he devoted himself to computers and his passion for them only increased overtime which led to personalization of computers around the globe. So there’s a tip for you. Whatever your age may be, just take the first step because that is the hardest and don’t look back.

Don’t let success get to your head

According to Bill Gates, it is vital that whichever field you are in or whatever your achievements are, you don’t let success determine what you do, which sort of people you socialize with, how you treat people, and how you think. He once said, “Success is a lousy teacher. It seduces smart people into thinking they can’t lose”. Just because you were once successful with a particular strategy, does not mean that you will continue to be. So make necessary changes as you move forward.

Boasting about your accomplishment, letting success tamper with your judgment and just being overconfident will only bring you down. So avoid that.

Take each day as a challenge, continuously improve yourself and build on your achievements and keep setting the bar higher and higher each time you succeed.

Value your customers

For an entrepreneur, it is crucial that they don’t make decisions based on money. Yes, the profit will benefit them the most but that is only in the short-term. Yet, if there are no customers then there will no profits. Thus, taking into account customer feedback, improving the products and services that you provide are essential for the progress of any business.

Bill Gates consider unsatisfied customers the best sources of learning and improvement as he said, “Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning”. So don’t avoid your customers or try to exploit them. Give them more than their expectation and in turn, you will yourself benefit.

Keep looking forward

Have a vision for the future, invent and modernize to stay ahead of everyone else. Try and always be better in one way or another than you were before.

Time is of the essence

Manage your time properly. Set timetable, meet deadlines, prioritize things and don’t waste time. Bill Gates once said, “No matter how much money you have, you can’t buy more time”. This coming from a man who is worth 90 billion US dollars in itself is a big lesson.

Money is not everything

“From those to whom much is given, much is expected,” these very words of Bill Gates’s mother inspired him to do more than just revolutionize the digital world. It inspired him to give back and help others who are less privileged. Bates until now has given billions of dollars to charities and that is why he isn’t the richest man today. He is entirely focused on social work nowadays.

Yes, even millions of us can’t afford to give back as much as he alone has but what we can do is help out just one or two individual, more than that if we can. Get a homeless person something to eat, fund a child’s education or just give some money to somebody in need.

How to run your business and daily life

Bill Gates has through his work ethic and achievements taught to the world how great wonders can be accomplished. By persisting, keeping laser-sharp focus, maintaining your intensity over time, by being efficient, making the most you can of the opportunities that you get, and by networking with the right people. Having a good team, getting into the right partnerships and surrounding yourself with people with big goals can take you a long way.

So don’t rest until you have got life breathing in your bodies because the world needs people like you to create a difference.
